TRAIL ARTISANS


The 30 miles of the Nickel Plate Arts Trail are dotted with hundreds of unique artisans and local places to visit. These Artisans are independent fine arts, crafts, culinary or performance professionals whose work is regularly available to the public and is one-of-a-kind and uniquely crafted.

Collectively, they place a strong emphasis on the traditional arts and offer a unique opportunity to experience, learn about and purchase original keepsakes.

Traditional artisans
Find everything from paintings and photographs to soaps and furniture along the Nickel Plate Arts Trail. These “traditional” artisans are bountiful along the trail and come in a variety of styles. All you have to do is decide what you’re looking for and where to start!

Culinary artisans
With candy confectioners, pie connoisseurs, and one-of-a-kind chefs, Trail travelers will be hard pressed not to fill their stomachs with delectable treats of all sorts.

Performance Arts
Two music halls, a community theatre and an arts-based movie theaters dot the Trail, offering a little bit of something for everyone. All of the communities along the Trail provide ample opportunities to enjoy live art, from free summer concerts and Shakespeare in the Park to community theater plays and front porch performances.

Shops and Stores
These unique retail outlets are artisan focused. Weavers, soap makers, art galleries, ceramics, pottery, and so much more await. Travelers can also enjoy seasonal festivals showcasing great food and art.

Unique Dining
Local eateries offer quality food and a unique atmosphere. They include restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops, all locally owned and operated for a true taste of the Midwest.

Unique Lodging
