About

Uncover three distinct towns in Northern Hamilton County, each with something unique to offer. For a day in the great outdoors, stop by Cicero for a laid-back lake retreat. In Arcadia, unmask your inner Monet with a class at one of the Arcadia Arts studios. Lastly, you’ll find Atlanta, where music wafts from the Atlanta Music Hall’s doors every Wednesday and Saturday night.

CICERO, the third stop on the Nickel Plate Arts Trail, is a quaint resort-style community that features a beautiful downtown that overlooks Morse Reservoir. Here visitors can enjoy Strawtown Koteewi Park that is comprised of 750 acres of woods, wetlands, and six miles of trails. This lakeside community embraces both adventure and performance art with a variety of concerts offered throughout the warmer months and noted Native American flute performance and craft artist Earl Tharp, who regularly serenades customers at his local coffee café.

ARCADIA is next on the trail. Arcadia’s budding Arts Initiative engenders what makes Arcadia a quintessential small-town artisan community. With simple, old-fashioned pursuits, a relaxing atmosphere, unique artisans, educational shops, a music hall, a heritage train depot, and festivals throughout the year, Arcadia offers an array of local talents without the large city hassle. Keeping with the community’s heritage, the Arcadia Arts Initiative strives to bring together visual and performing artists into a vibrant arts community in historic downtown Arcadia.

ATLANTA is a rural town along the Nickel Plate Railroad and SR 19, making it the fifth stop along the Nickel Plate Arts Trail. Atlanta’s small town charm shines through to its artisan offerings in a big way. Enjoy the performance arts at the Atlanta Music Hall. There you can dance the night away every Wednesday and Saturday to featured local jazz, Dixieland and Bluegrass musicians. Atlanta also hosts one of the state’s largest gatherings at the annual Atlanta New Earth Festival. Hundreds of artisan booths full of creative wares, food, fine art, crafts and antiques await the nearly 80,000 annual visitors. What’s more, the Indiana Transportation Museum makes regular train trips to the events.
